Summary:
WHEREAS bids were electronically received on Friday, February 7, 2025 after public advertisement for Translation and Interpretation Services. Request for bids were issued to thirty-four (34) vendors with twelve (12) vendors responding; and

WHEREAS, in accordance with NJSA 18A:18A-4, the District shall award only by resolution of the board of education to the lowest responsive and responsible bidder after public advertisement for bids; and

WHEREAS, in accordance with NJSA 18A:18A-2(y) the prices submitted by Ad Astra are rejected as this vendor failed to submit a signed bid and required bid documents; and

WHEREAS, in accordance with NJSA 18A:18A-2(y) the bids submitted by Cal Interpreting & Translations, Communication Services doing business as Interpretek, CQ Fluency, Global Interpreting Network, Homeland Language Services, Indus Translation, Linguanational Translations, Powerling, Sign Language USA, and Universe Technical Translation are rejected as these vendors failed to satisfy the minimum requirements and or failed to provide the required translation samples; and

WHEREAS, the contract is for a two (2) year period commencing April 1, 2025 through March 31, 2027; and

WHEREAS, the recommendation for award of term contract has been reviewed and approved by Marisol Diaz, Director of Bilingual Education.

Recommendation to the Board
NOW THERE BE IT RESOLVED that the Newark Board of Education accepts and approves the award of term contract for Translation and Interpretation Services for a two (2) year period of April 1, 2025 through March 31, 2027 as follows:

Language Line Services Inc. doing business as Language Line Solutions, Monterey, CA at an amount to exceed $1,000,000.00

EXPLANATION: To provide translation and interpretation services for the Newark Board of Education.
