Summary:
Whereas, the Newark Board of Education is committed to the continuing improvement of the educational program of the district; and

Whereas, teachers, department chairs and central office personnel have authored High School Social Studies curriculum guide that provide a year long overview, alignment to New Jersey Student Learning standards and unit plans and assessments.

Additionally, Unit 1 of the newly created African American History Elective and Pacing Document are also for review by the NBOE.

No cost to the district.

Now therefore, be it resolved that the Newark Board of Education approve Grades 9 and 11 Social Studies Curriculum and African American Curriculum, Unit 1 and Pacing Document.
