Summary:
|
WHEREAS, in response to the COVID-19 National Declaration of Emergency bids were received electronically on Tuesday, April 26, 2022 after public advertisement for Façade Repairs and Roof Replacement at Sir Isaac Newton Elementary School. Request for bids were issued to twenty-three (23) vendors with five (5) vendors responding; and
WHEREAS, the Newark Board of Education awarded a contract to Pravco, Inc., 245 Wescott Dr., Rahway, NJ 07065 for Facade Repairs and Roof Replacement at Sir Isaac Newton Elementary School during the May 26, 2022 Board Meeting in the amount of $2,622,475.00. An additional twenty percent (20%) in the amount of $524,495.00 was approved for encumbrance as a contingency allowance; and
WHEREAS, change orders one through four were approved during the January 26, 2023 Board Meeting in the amount of $181,050.00; and
WHEREAS, change orders five through thirteen were approved during the August 24, 2023 Board Meeting in the amount of $206,615.06 including a $10,000.00 credit which was deducted from the contract value; and
WHEREAS, change order fourteen was approved during the September 28, 2023 Board Meeting in the amount of $9,919.80; and
WHEREAS, an amendment to increase the contingency allowance to $706,584.86 to encumber funds for change order fifteen in the amount of $299,000 was approved during the October 30, 2023 Board Meeting; and
WHEREAS, the Newark Board of Education desires to amend the current contract to increase the contingency allowance of $706,584.86 to $869,443.82 to encumber funds for change order sixteen; and
WHEREAS, change order sixteen provides for removal of contaminated soil from the site during construction of the drainage system and replacement of additional terracotta lintel and associated structure at the east elevation in the amount of $162,858.96; and
WHEREAS, the recommendation for amendment of contract 9475 and change order sixteen was reviewed and approved by Carlos Edmundo, Acting Executive Director of Facilities Management and Krystle Whitlock, Assistant School Business Administrator.

NOW, THEREFORE IT IS HEREBY RESOLVED, that the Newark Board of Education accepts and approves amendment number two of contract 9475 increasing the contingency allowance from $706,584.86 to $869,443.82, and change order sixteen in the amount of $162,858.96 increasing the contract value to $3,481,918.82. Remaining contingency will be $0.00.
