Summary:

WHEREAS the NPS Office of Visual and Performing Arts conducted an inventory of the state of Arts Education in Newark Public Schools to identify resources, trends, gaps, and opportunities in arts education to use in cultivating a district-wide arts plan and establish a baseline for tracking progress and outcomes as directed under NPS Clarity 2020, Priority 2, Strategy 2.8; WHEREAS The Arts Education Landscape Baseline Report 2019-2020 is Newark Public School’s first-ever district-wide arts education landscape review and presents data on the status of arts education in Newark Public Schools that was compiled using multiple data sources, which together, provide a comprehensive snapshot of arts education for the 2019-2020 school year; WHEREAS the Arts Education Landscape Baseline Report 2019-2020, is consistent with and supports priorities of The Next Decade: 2020-2030 Strategic Plan and identifies goals and actions to strategically improve the delivery of quality arts education as part of a well-rounded education for every student.

Now therefore, be it resolved the Board of Education approves and adopts implementation of the goals, benchmarks, and actions contained in the Arts Education Landscape Baseline Report 2019-2020 to maintain and grow arts education programs in the Newark Public Schools.
