Summary:
|
WHEREAS, proposals were received on Tuesday, November 21, 2019 after public advertisement for Professional Development in Social Emotional Learning, Mental Health Counseling Services for Students, Social Emotional Curriculum Development, and Infusion of Key Instructional Practices into Existing and Developing Curricula, request for proposals were issued to nineteen (19) vendors with fourteen (14) vendors responding; and
WHEREAS, the Newark Board of Education desires to provide a pool of pre-qualified professional development service providers to support educators and school leaders in evidence-based social emotional learning techniques that support significant academic gains and healthy student behaviors; and
WHEREAS, the Newark Board of Education approved the award of contract during the December 17, 2019 Board Meeting for a three (3) year term of December 17, 2019 through December 16, 2022 with an option to renew for one (1) successive two (2) year period; and
WHEREAS, the Newark Board of Education desires to exercise its sole renewal option for a two (2) year period of December 17, 2022 through December 16, 2024; and
WHEREAS, the renewal of each term contract shall not exceed $500,000.00 annually and any resultant contract will not guarantee services. The Newark Board of Education is not responsible for services performed without an authorized purchase order, and only the issuance of a purchase order authorizes the performance of services; and
WHEREAS, the recommendation for renewal of term contracts has been reviewed and approved by Maria Ortiz, Assistant Superintendent, and Dr. MaryAnn Reilly, Assistant Superintendent of Teaching and Learning.

Recommendation to the Board:

NOW THERE BE IT RESOLVED that the Newark Board of Education accepts and approves the renewal of term contracts for pre-qualified vendors to provide Social Emotional Learning and Mental Health Counseling services for a two (2) year period of December 17, 2022 through December 16, 2024 at an annual amount not to exceed of five hundred thousand dollars ($500,000.00) per vendor as follows:
A. Effective School Solutions, Summit, NJ
B. Fairleigh Dickinson University, Teaneck, NJ
C. Main Street Counseling, West Orange, NJ
D. Rethink Ed, New York, NY
F. Yale University, New Haven, CT
EXPLANATION: To provide a pool of pre-qualified professional development service providers to aid in the delivery and establishment of highly effective learning environments. Subject to the availability of funds.
