Summary:
|
WHEREAS, in response to the COVID-19 National Declaration of Emergency bids were electronically received on Tuesday, June 16, 2020, after public advertisement for Student Transportation Services To and From School, request for bids were issued to one hundred and four (104) vendors with eighteen (18) vendors responding; and WHEREAS, in accordance with N.J.S.A.18A:18A-2(y), five (5) bids were rejected and deemed unresponsive due to failure to submit signed bid documents or a bid bond; and WHEREAS, pursuant to N.J.S.A. 18A:39-1, the District is required to provide transportation to and from school to elementary school pupils who live more than two miles from their public school of attendance or secondary school pupils who live more than two and a half miles from their public school of attendance; and WHEREAS, the original contract award was approved during the June 23, 2020 Board Meeting for a two (2) year period of September 1, 2020 through June 30, 2022 with the option to renew for two (2) additional one (1) year periods; and WHEREAS, the Newark Board of Education desires to exercise its first one (1) year renewal option commencing September 1, 2022 through June 30, 2023; and WHEREAS, the renewal shall include an additional ten percent allowance for necessary route modifications; and WHEREAS, the recommendation for renewal of term contracts has been reviewed and approved by Quanika Dukes-Spruill, Executive Director of Pupil Transportation.

NOW THEREFORE BE IT RESOLVED that the Newark Board of Education accepts and approves the renewal of term contracts for Student Transportation Services To and From School for a one (1) year period of September 1, 2022 through June 30, 2023 with the option to renew for one (1) additional one (1) year periods as follows: B. Destiny 23 Transportation Inc., Parsippany, NJ awarded 18 routes at an amount not to exceed $637,728.00 D. First Student Inc., East Orange, NJ awarded 24 routes at an amount not to exceed $2,108,652.00 E. Prime Transportation, Parsippany LLC, NJ awarded 7 routes at an amount not to exceed $239,876.00 H. T&K Bus Services LLC, Elizabeth, NJ awarded 1 route at an amount not to exceed $72,254.00 J. US Student Services LLC, Woodland Park, NJ awarded 3 routes at an amount not to exceed $177,450.00 53 Routes renewed for a grant total not to exceed $3,559,556.00 (including the ten percent route modification allowance) EXPLANATION: To provide in District transportation services for eligible students.
