Summary:
|
WHEREAS, since 2013, the Newark Public Schools has implemented an enrollment system, the Newark Universal Enrollment System, providing school choice to students and families residing in the City of Newark, including those enrolled in district schools and those enrolled in participating charter schools;
WHEREAS continuation of the Newark Universal Enrollment System, with certain modifications, for the 2022-2023 school year is in the best interest of the School District, its students and families;
WHEREAS the objectives of the Newark Universal Enrollment System – transparency, choice, equity, access, community, ease, and reliability – and the terms which shall govern the system for enrollment in the 2022-2023 school year are accurately set forth in the Memorandum of Understanding attached hereto (MOU);

Now, Therefore Be It Resolved, that the Board of Education of the City of Newark hereby approves the MOU for the Newark Universal Enrollment System, authorizes the Board President to execute the MOU on behalf of the Board, and directs the Superintendent to ensure implementation in accordance with its terms.
