Summary:
|
WHEREAS, bids were electronically received on Tuesday, December 5, 2023 after public advertisement for Tile Restoration Services, request for bids were issued to thirty-one (31) vendors with one (1) vendor responding; and
WHEREAS, the Newark Board of Education desires to reject the sole bid received in accordance with N.J.S.A. 18A:18A-22(a), as the sole bid received substantially exceeds our cost estimates; and
WHEREAS, the Educational Services Commission of New Jersey Cooperative operates the State approved Cooperative Pricing System 65MCESCCPS for the provision of various goods and services to its members including tile restoration services; and
WHEREAS, the Newark Board of Education shall utilize the Educational Services Commission of New Jersey Cooperative in addition to other cost saving State approved Cooperative Pricing Systems or State Contracts for the provision of tile restoration services; and
WHEREAS, the recommendation for rejection of the sole bid received and utilization of a state-authorized cooperative to capitalize on cost savings was reviewed and approved by Carlos Edmundo, Acting Director of Facilities Management and Operations and Krystle Whitlock, Assistant School Business Administrator.

NOW THEREFORE BE IT RESOLVED, that the Newark Board of Education hereby accepts and approves the rejection of the sole bid received for Tile Restoration Services and accepts and approves utilization of a State Contract or State approved Cooperative Pricing System for the provision of tile restoration services.
EXPLANATION: To provide tile restoration services at the most advantageous price in accordance with state and federal regulations.
