Summary:
|
WHEREAS, in response to the COVID-19 National Declaration of Emergency proposals were electronically received in accordance with N.J.S.A. 18A:18A-4.5 on Friday, August 5, 2022 after public advertisement for High School African American, Latin/ Caribbean Instructional Materials. Request for proposals were issued to four (4) vendors with three (3) vendors responding; and
WHEREAS, the Newark Board of Education seeks proposals from instructional material and program providers who can support educators in the effective delivery of standards-based, skills-aligned a) African American History curricular resources for high school elective courses, and b) Latin American/Caribbean Histories curricular resources for high school elective courses; and
WHEREAS, proposals were evaluated by staff members of the Newark Board of Education and the committee selected the finalist identified below as the best qualified vendors based on their response to the District’s request for proposal; and
WHEREAS, the contract is for a three (3) year period of September 1, 2022 through August 31, 2025 with an option to renew for one (1) successive two (2) year period; and
WHEREAS, the recommendation for award of term contracts has been reviewed and approved by Carynne Conover, Director of Social Studies and Dr. Mary Ann Reilly, Assistant Superintendent of Teaching and Learning.

Recommendation to the Board:

NOW THEREFORE BE IT RESOLVED that the Newark Board of Education accepts and approves the award of term contracts for High School African American, Latin/ Caribbean Instructional Materials for a three (3) year period of September 1, 2022 through August 31, 2025 with an option to renew for one (1) successive two (2) year period as follows:
A. John Wiley and Sons Inc., Hoboken, NJ at a cost not to exceed $180,000.00
B. McGraw Hill, Columbus OH at a cost not to exceed $450,000.00
EXPLANATION: To obtain high quality high school African American, Latin/ Caribbean instructional
materials.
