Summary:
|
WHEREAS, the Newark Board of Education desires to improve and expand education programs beyond high school; and
WHEREAS, in partnership with New Jersey Institute of Technology (NJIT) and the City of Newark, the NJIT/Newark Math Success Initiative launched. The program is designed to identify and strengthen high school student’s mathematic knowledge, skills, and preparation for college work; and
WHEREAS, the Newark Board of Education is authorized to enter into an agreement without advertisement with the United States of America, the State of New Jersey, county or municipality or any board, body, officer, agency authority or board of education or any other state or subdivision thereof in accordance with N.J.S.A. 18A:18A-5b; and
WHEREAS, the recommendation for award of term contract has been reviewed and approved by Dr. Maria Ortiz, Assistant Superintendent.

NOW THEREFORE BE IT RESOLVED, that the Newark Board of Education accepts and approves the award of term contract for the Math Success Initiative commencing July 1, 2022 through August 31, 2023 as follows:
New Jersey Institute of Technology, Newark, NJ at a cost not to exceed $74,900.62
EXPLANATION: To allow students to earn college credits during high school and strengthen their mathematic knowledge. Subject to the availability of funds.
