Summary: WHEREAS, the Newark Board of Education originally advertised to receive bids on Wednesday, February 23, 2022 for Electrical Service Upgrade and Air Conditioning Installation at South 17th Street School, request for bids were issued to sixteen (16) vendors with three (3) vendors responding; and

WHEREAS, the Newark Board of Education re-advertised to receive bids on Wednesday, August 10, 2022 for Electrical Service Upgrade and Air Conditioning Installation at South 17th Street School, bids were issued to seventeen (17) vendors with one (1) vendor responding, see award analysis; and

WHEREAS, the Newark Board of Education wishes to award a contract for Electrical Service Upgrade and Air Conditioning Installation at South 17th Street School to sole bidder, CV Electrical Contractors, 14 Fairway Ct., Scotch Plains, NJ 07076; and

WHEREAS, the award amount is the total lump sum base bid plus alternate 1 in the amount of three hundred sixty-three thousand dollars ($363,000.00); and

WHEREAS, an additional ten percent (20%) in the amount of seventy-two thousand six hundred dollars ($72,600.00) is requested for a contingency allowance; and

WHEREAS, the recommendation for award of term contract was reviewed and approved by Carlos Edmundo, Interim Executive Director of Facilities Management and Krystle Whitlock, Assistant School Business Administrator.

Recommendation to the Board: NOW THEREFORE BE IT RESOLVED that the Newark Board of Education accepts and approves the award of contract for Electrical Service Upgrade and Air Conditioning Installation at South 17th Street School in the amount of $363,00.00 with a 20% contingency allowance of $72,600.00.
