Summary: WHEREAS, in accordance with N.J.S.A. 18A:40-3.2 the Newark Board of Education desires to retain nursing services for medically fragile students as identified in their Individualized Education Program (IEP); and

WHEREAS, in accordance with 18A:40-3.2 the District will allow parents to have the option to choose the provider who will render clinical nursing services to their child, so long as the cost remains equal to or less than the amount the District would pay for such services; and

WHEREAS, in accordance with N.J.S.A. 18A-18A-5a (1), the District can award a contract for professional services without advertisement; and

WHEREAS, the term of awarded contracts shall not exceed a one year period; and

WHEREAS, all providers for clinical nursing services will be reviewed and approved by Marilyn Mitchell, Director of Special Education.

NOW THEREFORE BE IT RESOLVED, that the Newark Board of Education grants permission to award nursing service contracts to various vendors for the 2025-2026 school year from July 1, 2025 through June 30, 2026.
