Summary:
|
WHEREAS, in response to the COVID-19 National Declaration of Emergency bids were electronically received on Tuesday, August 4, 2020 after public advertisement for Masonry Restoration and Concrete Sidewalk Repairs Services, request for bids were issued to twenty-four (24) vendors with three (3) vendors responding; and
WHEREAS, the Newark Board of Education approved the original contracts during the August 27, 2020 Board Meeting for a two (2) year period of August 27, 2020 through August 26, 2022, with an option to renew for one (1) additional two (2) year period; and
WHEREAS, the Newark Board of Education approved a contract amendment during the October 28, 2021 Board Meeting increasing the contract value from $300,000.00 annually to an amount not to exceed $1,600,000.00; and
WHEREAS, the Newark Board of Education desires to exercise its sole renewal option for a two (2) year period commencing August 28, 2022 through August 27, 2024; and
WHEREAS, Hilt Construction declined to renew for the second and final two (2) year renewal option; and
WHEREAS, the recommendation for renewal of term contract was reviewed and approved by Carlos Edmundo, Interim Executive Director of Facilities Management and Operations and Krystle Whitlock, Assistant School Business Administrator.

Recommendation to the Board:

NOW THEREFORE BE IT RESOLVED, that the Newark Board of Education hereby accepts and approves the sole renewal option for Masonry Restoration and Concrete Sidewalk Services for a two (2) year period commencing August 27, 2022 through August 26, 2024, as follows:
AA Berms, LLC., Belleville, NJ at cost not to exceed $1,600,000.00
EXPLANATION: To provide masonry restoration and concrete sidewalk repair services.
