Summary: WHEREAS, bids were received electronically on Tuesday, June 4, 2024 after public advertisement for Roof Replacement and Masonry Restoration at South 17th Street School. Request for bids were issued to thirty-six (36) vendors with six (6) vendors responding; and

WHEREAS, the Newark Board of Education awarded a contract to Spartan Construction, Inc., 399 Oak St., Suite C, South Amboy, NJ 08879 during the June 18, 2024 Board Meeting in the amount of $4,199,000.00. An Additional $839,800.00 was approved for encumbrance as a contingency allowance; and

WHEREAS, change order one provides for safe handling and removal of asbestos roofing material in the amount of $214,788.00; and

WHEREAS, change order one was reviewed and approved by Carlos Edmundo, Acting Executive Director of Facilities Management and Krystle Whitlock, Assistant School Business Administrator.

Recommendation to the Board: NOW THEREFORE BE IT RESOLVED that the Newark Board of Education accepts and approves change order one in the amount of $214,788.00 increasing the contract to $4,413,788.00. Remaining contingency will be $625,012.00.
