Summary:
|
WHEREAS, proposals were received on Tuesday, October 31, 2017 after public advertisement for Therapeutic Counseling Services Request for Proposal in accordance with N.J.S.A. 18A:18A-4.5, proposals were issued to ten (10) vendors with six (6) vendors responding; and
WHEREAS, the District desires to provide therapeutic services to accelerate student achievement. The awarded vendor will support schools through relationship building, addressing barriers to positive outcomes, and providing psycho-educational programing to build social, academic, and life skills; and
WHEREAS, the Newark Board of Education approved the original contract at the November 30, 2017 Board Meeting for a three (3) year period with an option to renew for two (2) successive one (1) year periods; and
WHEREAS, the Newark Board of Education approved the first renewal at the November 24, 2020 Board meeting for a one (1) year period of November 30, 2020 through November 29, 2021; and
WHEREAS, the Newark Board of Education desires to exercise its second and final one (1) year renew option; and
WHEREAS, the District has received a School Improvement Grant and Project Prevent Grant to fund said services; and
WHEREAS, the recommendation for renewal was reviewed and approved by Michelina Thornton, Director of Grants and Federal Programs.

Recommendation to the Board:

NOW THEREFORE BE IT RESOLVED, that the Newark Board of Education accepts and approves the second and final renewal of contract for Therapeutic Counseling Services for a one (1) year period commencing November 30, 2021 through November 29, 2022 as follows:
Rutgers University - University Behavioral Health Care, Newark, NJ at a cost not to exceed $750,000.00
EXPLANATION: To provide therapeutic services for students to aid in accelerated student achievement. Subject to the availability of funds.
