Summary:
|
WHEREAS, the Newark Board of Education received proposals on Wednesday, August 3, 2022, after public advertisement for Extended Day Food Program Funded By The New Jersey Child & Adult Care Food Program (CACFP) At-Risk Afterschool Meals, request for proposals were issued to thirteen (13) vendors with one (1) vendor responding; and
WHEREAS, the contract term is for a one (1) year period commencing September 6, 2022 through June 30, 2023 with the option to renew for two (2) successive one (1) year periods; and
WHEREAS, proposals were reviewed by a committee of District personnel and evaluated based on the program plan/managerial, organizational/technical capacity, quality of food, delivery of food, and cost; and
WHEREAS, this Extended Day Food Program known as the Afterschool New Jersey Child and Adult Care Food Program (CACFP) “At Risk” program is subject to approval by the Department of Agriculture; and
WHEREAS, the recommendation for award of term contract has been received and approved by Dr. Julianne Bello, Director of Extended Day Programs.

Recommendation to the Board:

NOW, THEREFORE IT IS HEREBY RESOLVED that the Newark Board of Education accepts and approves the award of term contract for Extended Day Food Program Funded By The New Jersey Child & Adult Care Food Program (CACFP) At-Risk Afterschool Meals from September 6, 2022 through June 30, 2023 with the option to renew for two (2) additional one (1) year periods as follows:
Whitsons Food Service, Islandia, NY (L) at an estimated cost of $4,960,825.84
EXPLANATION: To provide the students participating in Extended Day Programs with a nutritious and balanced meal. Subject to availability of funds.
