Summary:
|
WHEREAS, the Newark Board of Education has committed itself to addressing academic excellence in its schools and the development of the highest potential in each student; and
WHEREAS, in accordance with N.J.S.A. 18A:18A-5(a)5, the District is authorized to award a contract without public advertising for educational goods and services; and
WHEREAS, the District desires to purchase supplemental elementary reading materials and licenses to aid in the delivery and establishment of highly effective learning environments; and
WHEREAS, the Newark Board of Education approved the award of contract at the September 30, 2021 Board Meeting for a one (1) year period of October 1, 2021 through September 30, 2022; and
WHEREAS, the Newark Board of Education desires to amend the current contract to purchase additional supplemental reading materials for an additional grade level; and
WHEREAS, the recommendation for amendment was reviewed and approved by Dr. Mary Ann Reilly, Assistant Superintendent of Teaching and Learning.

NOW THEREFORE BE IT RESOLVED, that the Newark Board of Education approves the amendment of term contract for Supplemental Elementary Reading Materials to aid in teaching phonics, spelling, and vocabulary for a contract period of
October 1, 2021 through September 30, 2022 as follows:
Savvas Learning Company LLC, Paramus, NJ at a cost not to exceed from $200,000.00 to $300,000.00
EXPLANATION: To meet the educational requirements of New Jersey and the District’s Education Plan. Subject to the availability of funds.
