Summary:
|
WHEREAS, the Newark Board of Education has committed itself to addressing academic excellence in its schools and the development of the highest potential in each student; and
WHEREAS, in accordance with N.J.S.A. 18A:18A-5(a)5, the District is authorized to award a contract without public advertising for educational goods and services; and
WHEREAS, the District desires to purchase guided reading books to prevent reading failure for grades one and two; and
WHEREAS, the contract is for a one (1) year period of October 28, 2021 through September 30, 2022; and
WHEREAS, the recommendation for award was reviewed and approved by Dr. Mary Ann Reilly, Assistant Superintendent of Teaching and Learning.

NOW THEREFORE BE IT RESOLVED, that the Newark Board of Education approves the award of contract for Guided Reading Instructional Materials for a contract period of October 28, 2021 through September 30, 2022 as follows:
Pioneer Valley Educational Press Inc; doing business as Pioneer Valley Books, Northampton, MA at a cost not to exceed $250,000.00
EXPLANATION: To meet the educational requirements of New Jersey and the District’s Education Plan. Subject to the availability of funds.
