Summary: WHEREAS, the Newark Board of Education currently utilizes and desires to continue to utilize Infobase’s platform that allows students and educators to research using high quality, primary and secondary resources; and

WHEREAS, in accordance with N.J.S.A 18A:18A-5a (19), the District is authorized to award a contract without public advertising for the provision or performance of goods and services for the support or maintenance of proprietary computer software and hardware; and

WHEREAS, the contract term shall be for a one (1) year period of October 1, 2022 through September 30, 2023; and

WHEREAS, the recommendation for award of term contract was reviewed and approved by Timothy Nellegar, Director of Educational Technology and Dr. Mary Ann Reilly, Assistant Superintendent of Teaching and Learning.

Recommendation to the Board: NOW THEREFORE BE IT RESOLVED, that the Newark Board of Education accepts and approves the award of term contract for an online research platform from October 1, 2022 through September 30, 2023 as follows:

Infobase Holdings Inc., dba Facts On File, Infobase Learning, Films Media Group, Learn 360, Vault.com, Infobase Publishing, The Education Center, New York, NY at a cost not to exceed $43,643.00

EXPLANATION: To provide an online educational solution that allows students and educators to research using high quality, primary and secondary resources. This platform supports across the curriculum and is a key research component shared by librarians and media specialists.. Subject to the availability of funds.
