Summary:
|
WHEREAS, in response to the COVID-19 National Declaration of Emergency bids were received electronically on Friday, October 2, 2020 after public advertisement for Asbestos Removal, Lead in Paint Stabilization/Abatement, and Mold Remediation Cleanup, request for bids were issued to twenty-nine (29) vendors with five (5) vendors responding; and
WHEREAS, the Newark Board of Education approved the original contract during the October 29, 2020 Board Meeting for a two (2) year period of October 29, 2020 through October 28, 2022 and contained an option to renew for one (1) successive two (2) year period; and
WHEREAS, the Newark Board of Education approved an amendment of contract for inclusion of an additional funding source during the February 24, 2022 Board Meeting; and
WHEREAS, the Newark Board of Education awarded multiple contracts to ensure the District has sufficient contractors to perform all the required work in an expeditious manner; and
WHEREAS, the contract value is estimated at Eight Million Dollars ($8,000,000.00) annually, which shall not be construed as the minimum or maximum amount to be expended; and
WHEREAS, the Newark Board of Education desires to exercise its sole renewal option for a two (2) year period commencing October 29, 2022 through October 28, 2024; and
WHEREAS, the recommendation for renewal of term contract was reviewed and approved by Carlos Edmundo, Interim Executive Director of Facilities Management and Krystle Whitlock, Assistant School Business Administrator.

NOW THEREFORE BE IT RESOLVED, that the Newark Board of Education accepts and approves the sole renewal option for Asbestos Removal, Lead in Paint Stabilization/Abatement, and Mold Remediation Cleanup for a two (2) year period of October 29, 2022 through October 28, 2024 as follows:
