Summary:
|
Whereas, the Newark Board of Education was awarded $768,000 from New Jersey Department of Education (NJDOE) for the New Jersey Learning Acceleration Program: High-Impact Tutoring Grant focusing on high-impact tutoring interventions for students that have been disproportionately affected by the pandemic; and Whereas, the grant will provide intensive tutoring support to enhance student learning and academic achievement for students in grades 2-5 in all elementary schools. Tutoring will be provided by qualified teachers and paraprofessionals with strong pedagogical knowledge aligned with the district's curricula; and Whereas, tutoring sessions will be conducted in person and will take place three or more times per week, including Saturdays from January – June 2024.

Now, Therefore, Be It Resolved, the Newark Board of Education accepts the New Jersey Learning Acceleration Program: High-Impact Tutoring Grant from the New Jersey Department of Education in the amount of $768,000 and agrees to accept and comply with all guidelines set forth in the grant.
