Summary:
|
WHEREAS, quotations were electronically received on Thursday, May 2, 2024 after public advertisement for Fresh Fruit and Vegetable Program. Request for quotations were issued to twenty-eight (28) vendors with two (2) vendors responding; and
WHEREAS, in accordance of NJSA 18A:18A-5a (6), the District is authorized to award a contract without public advertisement for food supplies; and
WHEREAS, the Newark Board of Education approved the award of contract during the June 18, 2024 Board Meeting for a contract term of July 1, 2024 through June 30, 2025 with an option to renew for one (1) additional one (1) year period; and
WHEREAS, an amendment is required to correct a clerical error in the contract award value; and
WHEREAS, the recommendation for amendment of term contracts have been reviewed and approved by Krystle Whitlock, Assistant School Business Administrator.

Recommendation to the Board:

NOW, THEREFORE BE IT RESOLVED that the Newark Board of Education accepts and approves the amendment of term contracts for the Fresh Fruit and Vegetable Program for a one (1) year period commencing July 1, 2024 through June 30, 2025 with the option to renew for one (1) additional one (1) year period from a grand total not to exceed one hundred and fifty thousand dollars ($150,000.00) to a grand total not to exceed one hundred and fifty thousand dollars ($150,000.00) per vendor to the following vendors:
A. Frank M Gargiulo & Son Inc. doing business as Gargiulo Produce, Hillside, NJ
B. Seashore Fruit & Produce Inc., Vineland, NJ
EXPLANATION: To provide the students of the Newark Board of Education with a fresh, nutritious and balanced meal.
