Summary:
|
WHEREAS, the Newark Board of Education desires to retain the services of Licensed Practical Nurses (LPN) and Registered Nurses (RN) to perform in-school nursing care to applicable special education students within the District; and
WHEREAS, in accordance with N.J.S.A. 18A-18A-5a (1), the District can award a contract for professional services without advertisement; and
WHEREAS, the Newark Board of Education approved the award of contract at the June 22, 2021 Board Meeting for a one (1) year period of July 1, 2021 through June 30, 2022; and
WHEREAS, the Newark Board of Education desires to amend the current contract for inclusion of an additional service provider; and
WHEREAS, the recommendation for amendment of term contract has been reviewed and approved by Marilyn Mitchell, Director of Special Education.

Recommendation to the Board:
|
NOW THEREFORE BE IT RESOLVED, that the Newark Board of Education accepts and approves the amendment of term contract for in-school nursing care to the District’s special education students for a one (1) year period of July 1, 2021 through June 30, 2022. Service providers will be paid an hourly wage for services rendered and the total cost annually of all contracts awarded shall not exceed two hundred thousand dollars ($200,000.00) as follows:
A. Epic Health Services Inc. d/b/a Aveanna Healthcare, Dallas, TX at an hourly rate of LPN $50.00/ RN $60.00
B. Starlight Homecare Agency Inc. d/b/a Star Pediatric Home Care, Saddle Brook, NJ at an hourly rate of LPN $48.00 / RN $60.00
C. Preferred Home Health Care & Nursing Services, Inc., Philadelphia, PA at an hourly rate of LPN $55.00 / RN $65.00
Explanation: To provide in-school nursing services for special education students. Subject to availability of funds.
