Summary:
Whereas, the Newark Board of Education Head Start Program, overseen by the Office of Early Childhood is submitting a Program Improvement (“One Time”) Request to the Department of Health and Human Services for Fiscal Year 2023, beginning October 1, 2022 to support the construction of a playground for Avon Avenue School preschoolers. If funding permits, restoration of the playground areas and/or equipment at Peshine Avenue School and Thirteenth Avenue School, and

Whereas this request will impact preschoolers’ health and well-being for unstructured play, which is aligned to the Creative Curriculum and the Healthy and Ready to Learn Plan, that supports children’s development in all domains, and

WHEREAS, the Newark Early Childhood Head Start program will submit a grant application for fiscal year 2023.

NOW, THEREFORE BE IT RESOLVED, that the Newark Board of Education Members hereby approves the Early Childhood request to be submitted to the Department of Health and Human Services Office of Head Start after October 1, 2022, for School Year 2022-23.
