Summary:
|
Research continues to demonstrate that participation in music programs benefits students academically and increases the likelihood of success in the contemporary job market. The ArtSmart Program provides students access to free voice lessons from professional artists. Each semester will culminate in a concert that showcases the Program.
Artsmart will provide voice lessons to students at Abington Ave. School, Barringer High School, East Side High School, Hawkins Street School and University High School.
Artsmart's objectives include providing access to voice lessons, creating a community of students, teachers and professionals, and gathering data on student performance and the efficacy of the program for 2021-22.

Now therefore, be it resolved that the Newark Board of Education approve this Memorandum of Understanding between Artsmart and the Newark Board of Education.
